What is considered old for a horse? Generally, a horse is considered senior when they reach 15 to 20 years of age, although some can live upwards of 30+ years. But what truly defines an old horse? Do older mares have the wisdom and experience of an elder? How old can horses get? There are many aspects to aging when it comes to horses that have yet to be discovered.

A horse has an excellent sense of time. It can internally calculate seconds passing and can even tell you the time of day. Many horses will require some form of payment for their service, but in a pinch the equine internal clock can be a handly tool.
